I use the face and body as a canvas. My painting is a continuous experiment, i work in a variety of paints, glitters stencils powders. i want to show you the working process that goes into my painting. Theres no truer canvas than a face
  • cant say im a huge Queen lover, (Freddie yes, Elizatbeth nah)

But i do love a good brief, and having got a taste for nails and nail art i decided to union jack my own, a bit tacky but i secretly like that.

If your a follower of the blog youll know im a fan of the blue brow, i used a new kryolan product on the eyes as a white liner, which you wet to create liquid liner, although I did use illamasquas sealing gel and it seemed to curdle a bit!

    and a ruby woo lip.]

throw in a brittania hair style and me westwood, melted union jack swimsuit and i look like a right crazy foo, but it makes me smile so there!

  • heres a photo of some hands. why? because I have been on a kleenex shoot, solely responsible for making this models hands look good.

although the hours were long and i was wedging in rehearsals on the same day. making it 13 hour days, one really cant complain.

we shot in two beautiful locations, in East Finchley and Surrey, outdoors in the sunshine. The crew was very laid back and we got some rather stonking shots.

theres a fine line between pulling an emu hand pose and a swan it seems!

  • and heres the mock up for the botanical face.

  • and heres the botanical entry i made for the Face competition.

  • i dont think I have shared these photos with you on tumblr yet, even though they are all over crackbook.
This is my muse Alejandra who sat soooo patiently for me, that she actually fell asleep at one point.

This was my competition entry for the Face Painting competition.
it took about 3 hours to do and the inspiration was a blue manga cheshire cat. sort of thing. Ive been obsessing over cartoon fantasy maga graffiti art recently and was thinking of a way of transforming the face in a more surreal way.
thank you to Jennifer Pattison who lent me her lovely canon 5d and of course to my Muse Alejandra.
I didnt win any prizes, but it was a real cathartic self indulgent session of painting

  • just found this photo of me turning me mate Andy Parry Green. He looks like hes been frozen. it must have been taken about 3 in the morning.
i always think its the greatest complement when your model decides to fall asleep with their face painted. Im not sure it was the best complement for the sofa with his mask print embezzled on it though

  • heres some pics of Meg before and after we put the headress on her. made by Angela Arrdvark

  • Back in Bangs!

had made a hasty decision upon turning 30 to never have a fringe ever again. But i missed it and what with my face head being so big i thought framing it with a fringe might reduce the size of my head!

My friend and fellow Face Painter Brierley Thorpe said you must cut it on a waxing moon, Well I couldnt see the moon for the clouds so I just went ahead and cut it anyway.

as with all domestic fringe cutting it got shorter and shorter. I thought it looked a little audrey hepburn but it actually looks more monk-ish!

now im experimenting with hairstyles to suit the bangs im quite liking this boudicca esque tribal monk effect. from sticking a bobby pin vertically down the pont-tail .

    answers please!

  • It was last year that I got in touch with legendary body Painter Phyllis Cohen, She gave me some wise words of advice before going to tell me about her new product that came out this year.

Its called Face Lace and its a transfer that you stick on to your eyelid. Since it came out theres been a whole wave of transfer make ups, glitter lips, etc.

Phyllis Cohens eye transfers are very intricate lace like patterns that not even the best Make up artist could recreate without the aid of photoshop.

I cheated and got mine in Topshop as I wasnt able to find the link for Phyllis Cohens. they are pretty pricey, considering you only wear them once but are truly stunning and work in seconds!

  • I entered my first ever live Body paint competition at the Paintopia face and Body painting Festival at the weekend.

It was called ‘professors apprentice’ the idea being that  you have one experienced body painter and one not so experienced who have just 3 hours to do a full body paint with styling, attachments, face everything!

the theme was Potters Pixie, Myself and my apprentice Angela wanted to stay well away from the literal ie Pixie ears and fairy wings. We decided to do a tree bark effect but in Hot pink and cerise blue instead of the usual browns.

that hole in Meg the models chest is supposed to be a void. or a pans labrynth style hole you get in a tree. but I wouldnt say my attempt was that good.

Angela made all the accessories and we came up with the idea together. It was a real challenge to say the least but I learnt a lot. and I will be more prepared next year. We just kinda winged this one!

  • heres some photos from the Ark Charity Ball in Kesington Garden. The brief was to work on arielists and dancers for Pet Shop Boys and Calvin Harris. They had to look like 1960s Space babes. so a LOT of silver was used with and angular drag blended eye mainly in greys blacks and whites.

The models were gorgeous and although you cant really see them in situ. Im imagining Kate Middleton having a dance of to some epic sci fi trance!

Thanks to Laura at Exclusively Themed for inviting me down to work on this event. It was my second year and apart from the shit and mud that my beauty case and feet got covered in I had a brilliant time. Its not often that you get to do more extreme make up looks so I made the most of it.

  • THIS IS NOT MY WORK

blind panic has set in. Ive got fuck all sorted for this body painting competition this weekend. The theme is potters pixie.

Dont know anything about harry Potter and dont really believe in Pixies. my Apprentice Angela has been similarly busy but has found the time to make shoes and a headpiece.

all i know is wood and textures of wood on a womans body. thats as far as Ive got.

Just going to wing it, its supposed to be fun right? oh jeeez!
